Purpose
- Anti-CD86 [OX-48], Rabbit IgG, kappa
-
Specificity
- OX-48 binds specifically to CD86 targets which are present on subsets of T and B blasts, spleen macrophages and polymorphs, peritoneal macrophages, dendritic cells. OX48 does not appear to bind the same epitope of CD86 as 24F (Stephens et al. 2004). CD86 is expressed at high levels on resting peripheral monocytes and dendritic cells and at very low density on resting B and T lymphocytes - expression is rapidly upregulated by B cell specific stimuli. CD86 acts as a ligand for CD28 and CTLA-4. CD86 works in tandem with CD80 to prime T cells. 2 splice isoforms exist.

Application Notes
- OX-48 blocks IL-2 production and proliferation of T cells (except when in exponential phase) (Samoza et al. 1990). The antibody can also be used for FC (Stephens et al. 2004), FACS and IPs. Ox-48 has been shown to be able to block binding of CD86 with its ligand CD28.
