Synonyms: Neuroligin-3 (Gliotactin homolog)
Target Description: Neuroligin3 is encoded by the gene NLGN3. Neuroligin3 is a transmembrane scaffolding protein and cell adhesion molecule. It is involved in cell-cell interactions in neurons and in other cell types. It is expressed in many tissues, including the brain where it is located at the postysynaptic membrane and is involved in regulation of excitatory synapses, synapse formation and synaptic transmission. Mutations in this gene may be associated with autism and Asperger syndrome.
