Specificity
- Aggrecan is the major proteoglycan of human articular cartilage. The core protein is substituted by a number of keratan sulfate and chondroitin sulfate glycosaminoglycan chains. Monoclonal Ab 4G4/A10 is specific for a core protein epitope of human articular cartilage. Therefore, in addition to applications in immunochemistry and immunohistochemistry, the mAb 4G4/ A10 can be used for the detection of aggrecan core protein fragments released during human inflammatory or degenerative joint diseases into synovial fluid and serum.
