    Characteristics

    1. Since applications vary, each investigator should titrate the reagent to obtain optimal results.
    2. Please refer to us for technical protocols.
    3. Caution: Sodium azide yields highly toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in plumbing.
    4. Source of all serum proteins is from USDA inspected abattoirs located in the United States.

    Purification

The monoclonal antibody was purified from tissue culture supernatant or ascites by affinity chromatography.

  • Target

    Gelsolin (GSN)

    Alternative Name

    Gelsolin

    Background

Gelsolin was identified as a result of its ability to sever actin filaments in a Ca2+-dependent manner. The gene for gelsolin encodes an 83 kDa protein that migrates as a 93 kDa polypeptide in SDS-gels. The N-terminal domain contains the calcium-independent actin-severin site, whereas the calcium-dependent site is located in the C-terminal portion of the protein. It exhibits significant homology with villin, another calcium-regulated actin filament severing protein. Gelsolin can be found intracellularly, as well as in a secreted form. However, both forms are encoded by the same gene. This antibody is routinely tested by western blot analysis.
