PRSS21 encodes a cell-surface anchored serine protease, which is a member of the trypsin family of serine proteases. Additionally we are shipping PRSS21 Antibodies (16) and many more products for this protein.
Showing 3 out of 4 products:
ACR (show ACR Proteins) or PRSS21 or both may function cooperatively with SPAM1 (show SPAM1 Proteins) in sperm/cumulus penetration
These data demonstrate that the trypsinlike protease activity of ACR (show ACR Proteins) and PRSS21 is essential for the process of sperm penetration through the cumulus matrix and zona pellucida in vitro
The reduced fertility of Prss21-null epididymal sperm was rescued by exposure of the sperm to the uterine microenvironment and by in vitro treatment of the sperm with uterine fluids.
Testisin activates PAR-2 (show F2RL1 Proteins), inducing PAR-2 (show F2RL1 Proteins) loss from the cell surface, internalization, and cellular signaling.
Testisin may promote carcinogenesis by inhibiting tumor suppressor activity of maspin (show SERPINB5 Proteins).
Loss of Testisin is caused, at least in part, by DNA hypermethylation and histone deacetylation, and suggest a tumour suppressor role for Testisin in testicular tumorigenesis.
The results demonstrate for the first time that aberrant methylation of specific CpG sites near the transcription initiation site is an important factor in testisin gene silencing in TGCT.
These data suggest that aberrant regulation of PRSS21 may underlie certain secondary male infertility syndromes, such as "easily decapitated" spermatozoa in humans.
This gene encodes a cell-surface anchored serine protease, which is a member of the trypsin family of serine proteases. The encoded protein is predicted to be active on peptide linkages involving the carboxyl group of lysine or arginine. The encoded protein localizes to the cytoplasm and the plasma membrane of premeiotic testicular germ cells and may be involved in progression of testicular tumors of germ cell origin. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene.
