Human UBTF Protein expressed in Wheat germ - ABIN1324490
Østrup, Hyttel, Klærke, Collas: Remodeling of ribosomal genes in somatic cells by Xenopus egg extract. in Biochemical and biophysical research communications 2011
This study provides some compelling evidences in support of HBx-elicited and c-Myc (show MYC Proteins)-mediated increase in UBF levels that abets oncogenic onslaught in hepatic cells by increasing rDNA transcription and ribosome biogenesis.
These results suggest that UBF can inhibit gene expression from viral DNA prior to its replication.
we have uncovered a novel role for UBTF1 and UBTF2 in maintaining genome stability through coordinating the expression of highly transcribed Pol I (UBTF1 activity) and Pol II genes (UBTF2 activity).
p14ARF fails to prevent E7-mediated UBF1 phosphorylation, but could facilitate nucleolar pRb (show RB1 Proteins) inactivation by targeting E7 to the nucleolus.
PIP2 depletion reduces Pol I transcription.
UBF is expressed widely by human multiple fetal tissue,s and the expression level is very high in HL-60 cells.
Downregulation of RUNX2 (show RUNX2 Proteins) expression reduces the localization of HDAC1 (show HDAC1 Proteins) to the nucleolar periphery and also decreases the association between HDAC1 (show HDAC1 Proteins) and UBF.
hALP binds the upstream binding factor (UBF) in vivo and in vitro
depletion of upstream binding factor (UBF; an rRNA transcription factor) decreased the chromatin binding affinity of B23 (show NPM1 Proteins), which in turn led to an increase in histone density at the r-chromatin
The three-dimensional solution structure of the first high mobility group (HMG (show SSRP1 Proteins)) box domain in upstream binding factor has been determined by multidimensional NMR.
UBF and Nopp140 (show NOLC1 Proteins) dynamic redistribution between the two-cell and blastocyst stages (time of implantation) is correlated with morphological and structural modifications that occur in embryonic nucleolar compartments.
inhibition of UBF function is a major factor in the cytotoxicity of cisplatin; its depletion selectively induces p53 (show TP53 Proteins)-independent apoptotic death in transformed cells
Loss of UBF also unexpectedly induced the formation in cells of a large sub-nuclear structure resembling the nucleolar precursor body (NPB) of oocytes and early embryos.
UBF1 mutation (K352A, K352Q, and K352R) decreased rDNA transcriptional activity.
augmented ribosome biogenesis occurs in UBF-dependent manner during increased protein synthesis induced by high glucose in glomerular epithelial cells that correlates with UBF activation and renal hypertrophy in rodents with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
increased UBF levels correlate with elevated pressure load and increased cardiac growth rates
mTOR (show FRAP1 Proteins) plays a critical role in the regulation of ribosome biogenesis via a mechanism that requires S6K1 (show RPS6KB1 Proteins) activation and phosphorylation of UBF.
effects of PES1 (show PES1 Proteins) and UBF1 expression on the growth and differentiation of cell lines derived from 32D cells, an interleukin-3 (IL-3 (show Il3 Proteins))-dependent murine myeloid cell line
Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase subunit directly phosphorylates and activates UBF1, an exclusively nucleolar protein (show MCRS1 Proteins).
This gene encodes a member of the HMG-box DNA-binding protein family. The encoded protein plays a critical role in ribosomal RNA transcription as a key component of the pre-initiation complex, mediating the recruitment of RNA polymerase I to rDNA promoter regions. The encoded protein may also play important roles in chromatin remodeling and pre-rRNA processing, and its activity is regulated by both phosphorylation and acetylation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. Pseudogenes of this gene are located on the short arm of chromosomes 3, 11 and X and the long arm of chromosome 11.
