Mutations in this integral endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane protein enzyme belongs to the glycosyltransferase family 4 results in the congenital disorder of glycosylation type Ij with symptoms such as severe hypotonia, medically intractable seizures, mental retardation, microcephaly, and exotropia.
