Description
|
HSP90a is one of two HSP90 isoforms together with HSP90b. These isoforms are encodedby different genes and under normal conditions assist the folding of newly synthesisedproteins, and are also important in cellular processes such as hormone signalling and cellcycle control. In response to mutation or environmental stress, HSP90 expression isupregulated as part of the heat shock response, and function to maintain newlydestabilised proteins in a folding competent state. HSP90 can also affect the epigeneticstate at specific loci, leading to phenotype modulation. Induction of HSP90a by c-Myc maycontrol the activity of multiple signal pathways involved in cellular transformation.
