Alternative Name EIF2C1 / AGO1
Background Ago1 belongs to the argonaute family and contains 1 PAZ and 1 Piwi domain. It is required for G1 arrest and mating in response to nitrogen starvation. It is also known as cell cycle control protein through it's regulation of cytokinesis and cell cycle checkpoints occurs downstream of dcr1. It is required, indirectly, for regulated hyperphosphorylation of cdc2. Ago 1 also has a role in the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway which is important for heterochromatin formation and accurate chromosome segregation. It has been shown to be non-essential for siRNA-directed target RNA cleavage but is needed for the production of mature miRNA that affects miRNA-directed RNA cleavage.

Application Notes Peptide ELISA: Detection Limit: 1/16000. Western Blot: 0.3-1 µg/ml. In transfected HEK293 transiently expressing Human EIF2C1bands of approx.110kDa and 35kDa are observed. The 110kDa band is not observed in thenon-transfected HEK293. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
