Description
G Protein alpha 16 (GA16) is the only heterotrimeric G protein with a restricted expressionpattern in hematopoietic cells. Differentiation of promyelocytic cells leads to decreasedexpression of GA16. The G protein is known to couple a large number of G protein-coupledreceptors to PLC-beta and can lead to production of the secondary messengersdiacylglycerol and inositol phosphates. Targeted deletion of GA15, a mouse orthologue ofhuman GA16, causes reduced C5α receptor signaling. GA16 serves as a marker, in additionto CD34, for hematopoietic progenitor cells.
Specificity
The antibody detects GA15 in samples from Human, Mouse, Rat, and Rabbit origins. It also detects GA16 from samples of Human origin. Species: Human, Mouse, Rat and Rabbit. Others not tested.
