Background: POLRMT(DNA-directed RNA polymerase, mitochondrial) is responsible for mitochondrial gene expression as well as for providing RNA primers for initiation of replication of the mitochondrial genome. Although this polypeptide has the same function as the three nuclear DNAdirected RNA polymerases, it is more closely related to RNA polymerases of phage and mitochondrial polymerases of lower eukaryotes. POLRMT(DNA-directed RNA polymerase, mitochondrial) catalyzes the transcription of DNA into RNA using the four ribonucleoside triphosphates as substrates. POLRMT interacts with TFB1M and TFB2M, leading to the stimulation of family.
