Produced in rabbits immunized with purified, recombinant Rat FGFR4 / FGF Receptor 4 (rR FGFR4 / FGF Receptor 4, Q498D6, Met1-Asp367). FGFR4 / FGF Receptor 4 specific IgG was purified by Rat FGFR4 / FGF Receptor 4 affinity chromatography.
FGFR4, also designated as CD334, is a member of the fibroblast growth factor receptor subfamily which belongs to the tyrosine protein kinase superfamily. Upon ligand binding, FGFRs undergo dimerization and autophosphorylation, intiating a cascade of downstream signal pathways, ultimately influencing a variety of physiological and pathological cellular processes including mitogenesis and differentiation. FGFR members is highly conserved in amino acid sequence and differ in their ligand affinities and tissue distribution. FGFR4, a type I transmembrane glycoprotein, contains 3 immunoglobulin-like domains in the extracellular domain and a cytoplasmic tyrosine-kinase domain. FGFR4 expression is detected in gastrointestinal epithelial cells, pancreas, as well as gastric and pancreatic cancer cell lines. FGFR4 is reported to be a high affinity receptor for both acidic and basic fibroblast growth factor, and also binds to FGF19. Like FGFR1-3, several isoforms of FGFR4 are generated by alternative splicing of the mRNAs. Although its specific function is unknown, growing studies have indicated that FGFR4 plays a role in tumorigenesis and malignace of cetain carcinomas such as breast and ovarian tumors.
This antibody can be stored at 2°C-8°C for one month without detectable loss of activity. Antibody products are stable for twelve months from date of receipt when stored at -20°C to -70°C. Preservative-Free. Sodium azide is recommended to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%-0.1%). It is toxic to cells and should be disposed of properly.
