  • Specificity

    Reacts with Galectin-1.

    Purification

    Affinity Chromatography.

    Immunogen

    E.coli derived recombinant Human Galectin-1.
  • Application Notes

ELISA: To detect hGalectin-1 by direct ELISA (using 100 l/well antibody solution) thisantibody can be used at a concentration of 0.15 - 0.30 μg/mL. Used in conjunction withcompatible secondary reagents, allows the detection of at least 0.2 ng/well of recombinanthGalectin-1. Western blot: To detect hGalectin-1 by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at aconcentration of 0.1 - 0.2 μg/mL. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagentsthe detection limit for recombinant hGalectin-1 is 1.5 - 3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing ornon-reducing conditions.
    Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

    LGALS1/Galectin 1 (LGALS1) (Lectin, Galactoside-Binding, Soluble, 1 (LGALS1))

    Alternative Name

    Galectin-1

    Background

The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Galectin 1 may act as an autocrine negative growth factor that regulates cell proliferation. It also may regulate cell apoptosis and cell differentiation. It binds beta-galactoside, CD45, CD3 and CD4. Galectin 1 inhibits CD45 protein phosphatase activity and therefore the dephosphorylation of Lyn kinase. It is found in cardiac, smooth, and skeletal muscle, neurons, thymus, kidney, placenta and hematopoietic cells.Synonyms: 14 kDa lectin, Beta-galactoside-binding lectin L-14-I, Galaptin, Galectin1, HBL, HPL, LGALS1, Lactose-binding lectin 1, Lectin galactoside-binding soluble 1, MAPK-activating protein PM12, S-Lac lectin 1
