Background
- Caspase-7 is a 34 kDa protein consisting of two subunits and a short prodomain. The procaspase-7 can be activated by cleavage by upstream caspases to form active caspase-7 in apoptosis. Once activated, caspase-7 cleaves many of the same substrates as caspase-3, including poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) and sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs).Synonyms: Apoptotic protease Mch-3, CASP-7, CASP7, CMH-1, ICE-like apoptotic protease 3, MCH3
