Immunohistochemistry (Frozen Sections) (IHC (fro))

Clone

4B11
  • Specificity

This antibody recognizes the Human CD8 cell surface antigen, a 32 kDa glycoprotein expressed by the cytotoxic/suppressor subset of T-cells and weakly by NK cells. Clone 4B11 has been reported as being suitable for use in Western blotting. AM05530SU-N is recommended for this purpose.

    Characteristics

Synonyms: T-lymphocyte differentiation antigen T8/Leu-2, T-cell surface glycoprotein CD8 alpha chain

    Immunogen

Synthetic peptide derived from CD8 alpha chain sequence.

    Isotype

    IgG2b
  • Application Notes

Immunohistochemistry on Frozen Sections: 1/20-1/40. Immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections: 1/20-1/40. This product requires antigenretrieval using heat treatment prior to staining of paraffin sections.1 mM EDTA pH 8.0 isrecommended for this purpose. Positive Control Tissue: Human Tonsil.
    Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

    Background

The CD8 antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes that mediates efficient cell to cell interactions within the immune system. The CD8 antigen, acting as a coreceptor, and the T cell receptor on the T lymphocyte recognize antigen displayed by an antigen presenting cell (APC) in the context of class I MHC molecules. The functional coreceptor is either a homodimer composed of two alpha chains, or a heterodimer composed of one alpha and one beta chain. Both alpha and beta chains share significant homology to immunoglobulin variable light chains.Synonyms: CD8 alpha chain, CD8A, MAL, T-cell surface glycoprotein CD8 alpha chain, T-lymphocyte differentiation antigen T8/Leu-2
