Alternative Name: CD94

Background: CD94 is a 70kD cell surface glycoprotein expressed primarily by mouse natural killer (NK) cells. The murine CD94 Molecule forms heterodimers with NKG2A, C or E subunits to form the CD94/NKG2 receptor. In mice the CD94/NKG2 receptor recognises Qa-1 b, a non-classical MHC class 1 Molecule. CD94/NKG2 receptors may play an important role in self-tolerance of NK cells during fetal and neonatal life. N.B.
