Background
- GPR83 (also known as GIR/ GPR72) is an orphan G protein-coupled receptor highly expressed in brain and thymus. It is most homologous to the tachykinin and neuropeptide Y (NPY) receptors. GPR83 is selectively up-regulated by both murine and human CD4(+)CD25(+) regulatory T cells (Treg) cells and is involved in the induction of CD4(+)Foxp3(+) Tregs in the course of an ongoing immune response.
