Synonyms: STE20-like serine/threonine-protein kinase, STE20-like kinase, hSLK, CTCL tumor antigen se20-9, STE20-related serine/threonine-protein kinase, STE20-related kinase, Serine/threonine-protein kinase 2, SLK, KIAA0204, STK2
Tissue Specificity: Ubiquitously expressed. Highest expression is found in heart and in skeletal muscle.
Background: STE20-like serine/threonine-protein kinase is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the SLK gene. This gene is mapped to chromosome 10q24.33-q25.1. SLK is a kinase with multiple functional domains that is predicted to regulate cytoskeletal organization and responses to apoptotic stimuli.
