Specificity
- Recognizes tetanus toxin, also known as tentoxylysin, produced by the soil micro-organism Clostridium tetani. Infection by Clostridium tetani. Results in its systemic growth and secretion of tetanus toxin which causes muscle spasms by inhibiting neurotransmitter release. Also reacts with the C-fragment (~50 kD carboxy terminal residues 865-1315) of tetanus toxin.
