  • Purpose

    Recombinant Rabbit Monoclonal anti-Glycophorin-A / CD235a (GYPA/1725R), CF405S Conjugate

    Characteristics

This antibody recognizes a sialoglycoprotein of 39 kDa, identified as glycophorin A (GPA). It is present on red blood cells (RBC) and erythroid precursor cells. It has been shown that glycophorin acts as the receptor for Sandei virus and parvovirus. Glycophorins A (GPA) and B (GPB), which are single, trans-membrane sialoglycoproteins. GPA is the carrier of blood group M and N specificities, while GPB accounts for S and U specificities. GPA and GPB provide the cells with a large mucin like surface and it has been suggested this provides a barrier to cell fusion, so minimizing aggregation between red blood cells in the circulation. Primary antibodies are available purified, or with a selection of fluorescent CF® dyes and other labels. CF® dyes offer exceptional brightness and photostability. Note: Conjugates of blue fluorescent dyes like CF®405S and CF®405M are not recommended for detecting low abundance targets, because blue dyes have lower fluorescence and can give higher non-specific background than other dye colors.

    Immunogen

Recombinant human full-length Glycophorin A protein

    Isotype

    IgG kappa
  • Application Notes

    Immunohistology (formalin) 0.25-0.5 μg/mL
    • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10 mM citrate buffer,  pH 6.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min
    • Immunofluorescence 0.5-1 μg/mL
    • Flow Cytometry 0.5-1 μg/million cells/0.1 mL
    • Optimal dilution for a specific application should be determined by user
