Background: PEBP1 binds ATP, opioids and phosphatidylethanolamine. It has lower affinity for phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylcholine. It is also a serine protease inhibitor which inhibits thrombin, neuropsin and chymotrypsin but not trypsin, tissue type plasminogen activator and elastase.
