Purpose
- Rabbit Anti-Human CLU / ApoJ
-
Specificity
- DS-PB-00501 recognizes human clusterin (also known as apolipoprotein J). Clusterin is a ubiquitous glycoprotein which exists in at least two distinct isoforms, a proapoptotic nuclear form, of 49kDa, and a prosurvival secretory form with a molecular weight of 75-80kDa. Clusterin is implicated in several diverse physiological processes including sperm maturation, cell differentiation, and apoptosis. Clusterin upregulation has been reported in various human malignancies, including bladder, prostate, and breast tumours. Following specific stress induced injury, secretory clusterin acts as a molecular chaperone, scavenging denatured proteins outside cells. It has been shown to be upregulated in Alzheimer's disease, retinitis pigmentosa, glomerulonephritis, atherosclerosis and myocardial infarction.
