    Comment

Tested Species: In-house tested species with positive results. By Heat: Boiling the paraffin sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH6.0, for 20mins is required for the staining of formalin/paraffin sections. Other applications have not been tested. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end users.

    Alternative Name

    SRI

    Background

    Synonyms: Sorcin, 22 kDa protein, CP-22, CP22, V19, SRI

Tissue Specificity: Detected in cardiac myocytes.

Background: Sorcin?is a?protein?that in humans is encoded by the?SRI?gene. It is mapped to 7q21.1. This gene encodes a calcium-binding protein with multiple E-F hand domains that relocates from the cytoplasm to the sarcoplasmic reticulum in response to elevated calcium levels. In addition to regulating intracellular calcium homeostasis it also modulates excitation-contraction coupling in the heart. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct proteins. Multiple pseudogenes exist for this gene.?
