    Comment

Tested Species: In-house tested species with positive results. By Heat: Boiling the paraffin sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH6.0, for 20mins is required for the staining of formalin/paraffin sections. Other applications have not been tested. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end users.

  • Target

HMGN2 (High Mobility Group Nucleosomal Binding Domain 2 (HMGN2))

    Alternative Name

    HMGN2

    Background

    Synonyms: NACHT, LRR and PYD domains-containing protein 2, Nucleotide-binding site protein 1, PYRIN domain and NACHT domain-containing protein 1, PYRIN-containing APAF1-like protein 2, NLRP2, NALP2, NBS1, PAN1, PYPAF2

Tissue Specificity: Expressed at high levels in lung, placenta and thymus and at lower levels in ovary, intestine and brain.

Background: Non-histone chromosomal protein HMG-17 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HMGN2 gene. It is mapped to 1p36.11. The protein encoded by this gene binds nucleosomal DNA and is associated with transcriptionally active chromatin. Along with a similar protein, HMGN1, the encoded protein may help maintain an open chromatin configuration around transcribable genes. The protein has also been found to have antimicrobial activity against bacteria, viruses and fungi.
