    Comment

Tested Species: In-house tested species with positive results. By Heat: Boiling the paraffin sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH6.0, for 20mins is required for the staining of formalin/paraffin sections. Other applications have not been tested. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end users.

  • Target

    PPCS (Phosphopantothenoylcysteine Synthetase (PPCS))

    Alternative Name

    PPCS

    Background

Synonyms: Phosphopantothenate--cysteine ligase, Phosphopantothenoylcysteine synthetase, PPC synthetase, PPCS, COAB

Tissue Specificity: Expressed in heart, placenta, skeletal muscle kidney, pancreas, spleen, prostate, testis, ovary, ileum and colon. Expressed in lung endothelial and smooth muscle cells (at protein level).

Background: Phosphopantothenoylcysteine synthetase in humans is encoded by the PPCS gene. Biosynthesis of coenzyme A (CoA) from pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) is an essential universal pathway in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. PPCS, one of the last enzymes in this pathway, converts phosphopantothenate to phosphopantothenoylcysteine. By genomic sequence analysis, this PPCS gene ia mapped to chromosome 1.
