Characteristics
- CD79 consist of two proteins, namely CD79a and CD79b. CD79a recognizes the Ig-alpha protein, and CD79b recognizes the Ig-beta protein of the B-cell antigen component of the B-lymphocyte antigen receptor. The expression of CD79 precedes immunoglobulin (Ig) gene heavy-chain gene rearrangement and CD20 expression during B-cell ontogeny, making the detection of this antibody useful for determining B-cell lineage. Mouse anti Human CD79a antibody, clone ZL7-4, recognizes the human B-cell antigen receptor complex-associated protein alpha chain, also known as MB-1 membrane glycoprotein or CD79a and is one of Pan B cell marker.
