- MED18 (Mediator Complex Subunit 18 (MED18))
-
Alternative Name
- MED18
-
Background
- Background: MED18 is a component of the multisubunit mediator complex that functions as a bridge between gene-specific transcription factors and the RNA Pol II/general transcription factor machinery. The mediator complex was first identified as a coactivator of the thyroid hormone receptor and has since been observed to function as a coactivator of a variety of transcription factors. MED18 forms a subcomplex with the MED8 and MED20 subunits and plays an important role in initiation complex formation.
