    Background

Background: TPR (translocated promoter region) was identified in oncogenic fusions with the kinase domains of trk, met, and raf protooncogenes. TPR has also been identified as a candidate nuclear skeletal protein that localizes to nuclear pore-associated intranuclear filaments. TPR is part of an interchromasomal channel-based nuclear matrix that provides connectivity between the nuclear interior and periphery. It is implicated in intranuclear transport and export of mRNA and proteins.
