    Background

Background: Yeast 2-hybrid and localization studies show that human ZW10 interacting protein 1 (ZWINT-1) interacts with HZw10 in active centromeres and may play a role in directing HZw10 to the kinetochore during prometaphase. HZw10 is a component of the mitotic checkpoint that associates with the kinetochore to ensure chromosome fidelity during cell division.
