    Background

Background: DOCK11 (dedicator of cytokinesis 11) is also known as zizimin-2. It is a DOCK180-related guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for the small GTPase, Cdc42. As a GEF, DOCK11 functions to catalyze the dissociation of GDP from the GTPase. Dissociation of GDP allows an exchange for GTP and subsequent downstream signaling by the GTPase.
