Background: Background: The kinesin superfamily of proteins consists of over forty KIF motor proteins that function in intracellular transport along microtubules. Structurally, all kinesins contain a motor domain with microtubule and nucleotide binding sites that utilize ATP to target cargo along microtubule filaments.
