Background
- Background: PDK1 (3-phosphoinositide-dependent kinase-1) is a serine/threonine kinase that contains a PH domain for binding of phosphatidylinositols (PtdIns). PDK1 phosphorylates PKB/AKT in response to agonist stimulation of phosphoinositide 3-kinases (PI3Ks). Stimulation of PI3Ks generates specific inositol lipids that are important for activation of PDK1. PDK1 may also be responsible for phosphorylating PKA, PKC-zeta, RPS6KA1, and RPS6KB1.
