Background
- Background: CCT8 is also known as T-complex protein 1 subunit theta (TCP1-theta) and is a molecular chaperone that assists in the folding of proteins upon ATP hydrolysis. As part of the BBS/CCT complex, CCT8 may play a role in the assembly of BBSome, a complex involved in ciliogenesis and regulating the transport of vesicles to the cilia. TCP1-theta is known to play a role, in vitro, in the folding of actin and tubulin [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) P50990].
