    Background
Background: Paf1 is a component of the Paf1 complex that was originally identified in yeast as an RNA-polymerase II (RNAP II)-associated complex. The Paf1 complex functions in multiple aspects of gene expression. Paf1 has been shown to play roles in transcript elongation, histone H2B monoubiquitination, H3 methylation, chromatin remodeling, mRNA 3'-end processing, and the coupling of transcriptional and posttranscriptional events.
