Background
- Background: Growth factor receptor-bound protein 10 (GRB10) is a member of a family of adaptor proteins that bind to a variety of growth factor receptors to regulate receptor signaling and mediate signals for a variety of processes such as metabolism, growth, apoptosis, and migration. As a dimer, via its BPS (between PH and SH2) and SH2 (src-homology 2) domains, GRB10 associates with the insulin receptor (IR) as well as the insulin-like growth factor receptor (IGFR). GRB10's association with the IR has been shown to have inhibitory effects on insulin-induced kinase signaling, however studies have also reported that GRB10 can also have positive effects on IR signaling. It is suggested that GRB10 can serve in cellular functions independent of an interaction with the IR.
