Background
- Kcnip1, Kv channel-interacting protein 1, KChIP1, A-type potassium channel modulatory protein 1, Potassium channel-interacting protein 1,There are four member of the KChiPs (Kv4 potassium channel interacting protein) family. They are all EF handcontaining proteins required for the traffic of channel forming Kv4 K+ subunits to the plasma membrane. KChiP1 is expressed predominantly in the brain, with relative abundance in Purkinje cells of the cerebellum, the reticular neuclei, the medial habenular nuclei, the hippocampus and the striatum. It is expressed in a subpopulation of parvalbumin-positive neurons, suggesting its functional relationship with the GABAergic inhibitory neurons.
