Specificity: This antibody is specific for CD200R (OX2R), a cell-surface receptor for OX2 restricted to cells of the myeloid lineage, macrophages isolated from the peritoneal cavity, lung, spleen, and leukocyte dendritic cells are highly positive in OX102 mAb staining tests.

Application Details

Application Notes: This antibody binds the rat OX2 receptor, and thus can be used to stain rat resident peritoneal cells (RPCs), as well as macrophages from the lung, spleen and brain, and leukocyte dendritic cells (Wright, 2000). In addition, this antibody can be used to block the binding of OX2-coated beads to rOX2R on rat macrophages and to human kidney endothelial cells transfected with rOX2R cDNA. This antibody can also be used to purify the rOX2R antigen by immunoprecipitation from rat splenic lysates. Finally, the use of this antibody to block the OX2-OX2R interaction in rats with experimental allergic encephalomyelitis exacerbates the disease, and indicates a role for the OX2-OX2R interaction in the regulation of macrophage/microglia activity in vivo.
