Background
-
Synonyms: Mitofusin-1 (EC 3.6.5.-) (Transmembrane GTPase MFN1)
Target Description: Mitofusin 1, or transmembrane GTPase Mfn1 (MFN1) is a mitochondrial membrane protein with GTPase activity that functions to aid mitochondrial clustering and fusion. It may also play a role in mitochondrial metabolism. It is expressed in the outer membrane of mitochondria in many tissues, including heart and testis. Diseases associated with MFN1 include Optic Atrophy 1 and Autosomal Recessive Spastic Paraplegia .
