    Alternative Name

    PPIL3

    Background

    Synonyms: Nck-associated protein 1,NAP 1,Membrane-associated protein HEM-2,p125Nap1,NCKAP1,HEM2, KIAA0587, NAP1,

Tissue Specificity: Expressed in all tissues examined except peripheral blood leukocytes, with highest expression in brain, heart, and skeletal muscle.

Background: Peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase-like 3 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PPIL3 gene. This gene encodes a member of the cyclophilin family. Cyclophilins catalyze the cis-trans isomerization of peptidylprolyl imide bonds in oligopeptides. They have been proposed to act either as catalysts or as molecular chaperones in protein-folding events. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
