  • Target

    PDIA6 (Protein Disulfide Isomerase Family A, Member 6 (PDIA6))

    Alternative Name

    PDIA6

    Background

    Synonyms: Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 6, eIF-6, B (2)GCN homolog, B4 integrin interactor, CAB, p27 (BBP), EIF6, EIF3A, ITGB4BP, OK/SW-cl.27

Tissue Specificity: Expressed at very high levels in colon carcinoma with lower levels in normal colon and ileum and lowest levels in kidney and muscle.

Background: This gene encodes a member of the disulfide isomerase (PDI) family of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) proteins that catalyze protein folding and thiol-disulfide interchange reactions. The encoded protein has an N-terminal ER-signal sequence, two catalytically active thioredoxin (TRX) domains, a TRX-like domain, and a C-terminal ER-retention sequence. This protein inhibits the aggregation of misfolded proteins and exhibits both isomerase and chaperone activity. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
