  • Target

    ORAI2 (ORAI Calcium Release-Activated Calcium Modulator 2 (ORAI2))

    Alternative Name

    ORAI2

    Background

Synonyms: BAG family molecular chaperone regulator 5,BAG-5,Bcl-2-associated athanogene 5,BAG5,KIAA0873,

Tissue Specificity: Expressed in all tissues examined with lower levels in brain and testis.

Background: Protein orai-2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ORAI2 gene. Orai2 transcripts are predominantly expressed in kidney, lung, and spleen, and it appears that Orai2 is the only Orai isoform with multiple transcripts. Co-expresssion of Orai2 and STIM1 was shown to produce currents that appear similar but smaller than those produced by co-expression of Orai1 and STIM1.
