  • Target

NFIX (MLZE) (Nuclear Factor I/X (MLZE))

    Alternative Name

    NFIX

    Background

    Synonyms: Prostaglandin E synthase 3, Cytosolic prostaglandin E2 synthase, Cpges, Hsp90 co-chaperone, Progesterone receptor complex p23, Telomerase-binding protein p23, PTGES3, P23, TEBP

Tissue Specificity: Mainly expressed in testis. Isoform 3 is expressed predominantly in adult testis, weakly in pancreas, embryonic testis and sperm, and at very low levels in other organs.

Background: Nuclear factor 1 X-type is a protein that in humans is encoded by the NFIX gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a transcription factor that binds the palindromic sequence 5'-TTGGCNNNNNGCCAA-3 in viral and cellular promoters. The encoded protein can also stimulate adenovirus replication in vitro. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
