  • Target

    Nth Endonuclease III-Like 1 (NTHL1)

    Alternative Name

    NTHL1

    Background

Synonyms: Rapamycin-insensitive companion of mTOR, AVO3 homolog, hAVO3, RICTOR, KIAA1999

Tissue Specificity: In fetal tissues, it is highly expressed in heart, lung liver and kidney, and weakly expressed in brain. In adult, it is highly expressed in pancreas, spleen, thymus and peripheral blood leukocytes, expressed at moderate levels in heart, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, prostate, ovary, small intestine and colon, and weakly expressed in brain and testis.

Background: Endonuclease III-like protein 1 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the NTHL1 gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a DNA N-glycosylase of the endonuclease III family. Like a similar protein in E. coli, the encoded protein has DNA glycosylase activity on DNA substrates containing oxidized pyrimidine residues and has apurinic/apyrimidinic lyase activity.
