  • Target

    DGKZ (Diacylglycerol Kinase, zeta (DGKZ))

    Alternative Name

    DGKZ

    Background

    Synonyms: Ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase 21, Deubiquitinating enzyme 21, Ubiquitin thioesterase 21, Ubiquitin-specific-processing protease 21, USP21, USP23, PP1490

Tissue Specificity: Highly expressed in heart, pancreas and skeletal muscle. Also expressed in brain, placenta, liver and kidney, and at very low level in lung.

Background: Diacylglycerol kinase zeta is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the DGKZ gene. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the eukaryotic diacylglycerol kinase family. It may attenuate protein kinase C activity by regulating diacylglycerol levels in intracellular signaling cascade and signal transduction. Alternative splicing occurs at this locus and multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
