  • Target

    YBX1 (Y Box Binding Protein 1 (YBX1))

    Alternative Name

    Ybx1

    Background

Synonyms: Neuronal migration protein doublecortin,Doublin,Lissencephalin-X,Lis-X,DCX,DBCN, LISX,

Tissue Specificity: Highly expressed in neuronal cells of fetal brain (in the majority of cells of the cortical plate, intermediate zone and ventricular zone), but not expressed in other fetal tissues. In the adult, highly expressed in the brain frontal lobe, but very low expression in other regions of brain, and not detected in heart, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscles, kidney and pancreas.

Background: Y box binding protein 1 also known as Y-box transcription factor or nuclease-sensitive element-binding protein 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the YBX1 gene. Enables chromatin binding activity, mRNA binding activity, and single-stranded DNA binding activity. Involved in epidermis development and negative regulation of cellular senescence. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including cellular response to interleukin-7, negative regulation of striated muscle cell differentiation, and negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Located in cytoplasm and nucleus. Part of histone pre-mRNA 3'end processing complex. Is expressed in several structures, including branchial arch, central nervous system, facial prominence, gonad, and retina. Orthologous to human YBX1 (Y-box binding protein 1).
