Background
- STK,PRO,PKN,PRK,PRKCL,Pak,PAK2,PRK2,PRKCL2,PRO2042,Pak-2,STK7,PKN2,PRK2 is a member of the protein kinase C-related kinases (PRKs), a subfamily of Ser/Thr-specific kinases with a catalytic domain highly homologous to the PKC family. PKC-related serine/threonine-protein kinase and Rho/Rac effector protein participate in specific signal transduction responses in the cell. PRK2 plays a role in regulating cell cycle progression, actin cytoskeleton assembly, cell migration, cell adhesion, tumor cell invasion, and transcription activation signaling processes. Among its related pathways are signaling by Rho GTPases and signaling by GPCR. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include RNA binding and protein kinase activity.
