(NADPH Oxidase Activator 1 (NOXA1))
Alternative Name
NOXA1
Background
NADPH oxidases (NOXs) catalyze the transfer of electrons from NADPH to molecular oxygen to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS). The NOX activator NOXA1 can stimulate both NOX1 and NOX2, but it appears to be more effective in activating NOX1 [Opitz et al., 2007, PubMed 17189823].Synonyms: Antigen NY-CO-31, NADPH oxidase activator, NCF2-like protein, P51NOX, P67phox-like factor, p51-nox
