  • Target

    Dynamin Associated Protein 160 (DAP160)

    Alternative Name

    Intersectin

    Background

ESE-1 (epithelium-specific, EH domain and SH3 domain regulator of endocytosis) contains two N-terminal EH (Ep15 homology) domains, a central coiled-coil domain, and five C-terminal SH3 domains. ESE-1 is also known as the adaptor protein Intersectin. Intersectin constitutively associates with Eps15 to form a complex that is analogous to the yeast Pan1p-End3p complex, which is required for endocytosis and organization of the actin cytoskeleton. The EH, coiled-coil, and SH3 domains of intersectin bind epsin family proteins, SNAP25 and SNAP23, and dynamin, respectively. Thus, intersectin functions in complex with Eps15 to regulate endocytosis by linking components of the endocytic machinery.
