    PDCD1LG2 (Programmed Cell Death 1 Ligand 2 (PDCD1LG2))

    Alternative Name

    PDCD1LG2

    Background

Protein Function: Involved in the costimulatory signal, essential for T- cell proliferation and IFNG production in a PDCD1-independent manner. Interaction with PDCD1 inhibits T-cell proliferation by blocking cell cycle progression and cytokine production (By similarity). .

Background: Programmed cell death 1 ligand 2 (also known as PD-L2, B7-DC) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PDCD1LG2 gene. It is mapped to chromosome 9p24.2. PD-L2 is one of two ligands for programmed death-1 (PD-1), a member of the CD28 family of immuno-receptors. Northern blot analysis detect wide expression of PDL2, with highest levels in placenta, heart, pancreas, lung, and liver, and lower levels in spleen, lymph nodes, and thymus. PDL2 negatively regulates T cells and plays an essential role in immune tolerance.
