ELISA_Dilution: 156pg/mL-10,000pg/mL
Application_Note: Useful in Sandwich ELISA for Quantitative Detection of Antigen. Aliquot 0.1 mL per well of the 10,000pg/mL, 5000pg/mL, 2500pg/mL, 1250pg/mL, 625pg/mL, 312pg/mL, 156pg/mL human Galectin-2 standard solutions into the precoated 96-well plate. Add 0.1 mL of the sample diluent buffer into the control well (Zero well). Add 0.1 mL of each properly diluted sample of human cell culture supernates, serum or plasma(heparin, EDTA) to each empty well. It is recommended that each human Galectin-2 standard solution and each sample be measured in duplicate.

Background: Galectin-2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the LGALS2 gene. It is mapped to 22q13.1. The protein encoded by this gene is a soluble beta-galactoside binding lectin. The encoded protein is found as a homodimer and can bind to lymphotoxin-alpha. It has been found that a single-nucleotide polymorphism in Galectin-2 is significantly associated with susceptibility to myocardial infarction. This genetic substitution affects the transcriptional level of Galectin-2 in vitro, potentially leading to altered secretion of LTA, to which Galectin-2 binds, which would then affect the degree of inflammation.
